Dear Colleague,

This is the second bulletin of the Workshop on Multibunch Instabilities
in Future Electron and Positron Accelerators to be held from 15 to 18
July 1997 at KEK in Tsukuba, Japan. Information on the workshop site
(KEK), travel to KEK, accommodation, registration, and the updated
scientific program is described below. Other complementary information
such as a transportation guide between the Narita Airport (or Tokyo)
and Tsukuba, a KEK map, and hotels accommodation in the central Tsukuba
area can be found on the Web at

http://www-acc.kek.jp/WWW-ACC-exp/Conferences/

If you need more information, please feel free to make a contact with
us by e-mail (mbi97@kekvax.kek.jp), fax (+81 298 64 3182) or
phone (+81 298 64 5214). We look forward to seeing you in Tsukuba
in July.

1. Workshop site

The workshop will be held on July 15 - 18, 1997 at

High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK),
    1-1 July 15, Tsukuba-shi,
    Ibaraki-ken, 305, Japan
    Tel: +81 298 64 5214
    Fax: +81 298 64 3182

All sessions of the workshop will be held at the Seminar Hall on
the first floor of the Building 3. The workshop headquarter will
be set up at the conference room on the same floor and will be open
from 8:30 am till 5:00 pm Tuesday 15 to Friday 18, July. Several
Macintosh computers will be made available in the headquarter for
the network access to your laboratory's computers.

2. Travel

Tsukuba is located approximately 50 km northeast of Tokyo and 40 km
northwest of the New Tokyo International Airport in Narita.
Participants who will come to Tsukuba directly from the Narita Airport
are recommended to take an Airport Liner NATT'S (non-stop shuttle bus).
It costs 2,500 yen for one-way. You can buy a ticket at the Keisei Bus
Counter on the 1st floor in the arrival lobby. No advanced reservation
is needed. The bus will arrive at the Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal after
about 1.5 hours ride (be aware: the Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal is NOT
the last bus stop. The bus will further go to the Tsuchiura railway
station).

Most of hotels in Tsukuba are in walking distances from the Tsukuba
Center Bus Terminal (unfortunately, they provide no shuttle bus
service). Participants who prefer to come from Tokyo to Tsukuba are
recommended to take a JR expressway bus (also called "highway" bus
in Japanese) at the Tokyo railway station. There are frequent ones
("Tsukuba Line") which heads for the Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal
(1,250 yen), and less frequent ones ("New Tsukuba-ne Line") which
stop at the KEK front gate (1,470 yen). If your final destination is
KEK, you can also take a Tsukuba Line bound for the Tsukuba Center Bus
Terminal and change to a local bus or take a taxi there. See the
transportation guide on the Web for more details. If you get lost or
need help, please call us at (0298) 64 5284 or (0298) 64 5214 (where
0298 is the area code of Tsukuba and needed only when dialed from
outside of Tsukuba).

3. Accommodation

Due to the conflict with the summer school to be held at KEK
at the same period, only several rooms are available at the KEK
dormitory. Most of participants have to stay at hotels near the Tsukuba
center. Hotel Grand Shinonome offers a specially reduced rate for
participants of the workshop and provides shuttle bus services between
the hotel and KEK during the workshop. The reduced rate is (tax included)

                             Single Twin
Hotel Grand Shinonome 7,000 yen 7,000 yen/person
                                            (9,000 yen for single use)

Breakfast is also included. The location of the hotel is shown in
the Tsukuba Center Map on the above Web. Hotel Shinonome accepts major
credit cards (Visa, Master, Dinners', AMEX, etc., but no Eurocard).
English speaking clerks are serving in the hotel. To book a room at the
Hotel Grand Shinonome, please check the attached form.
We will make a reservation for you. Please pay the hotel bill directly
to the hotel. The telephone number of Hotel Grand Shinonome is
+81 298 56 2211.

4. Currency exchange

The exchange service is available at the Joyo and the Kanto Banks
locating in the Tsukuba Dai-ichi Hotel from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday
through Friday. They do the cashing service only with Visa card.

5. Registration

The registration fee for the Workshop is 15,000 Yen (about 125 US
dollars). The fee includes the proceedings, a reception on Tuesday and
an excursion in Kasama (a city of pottery-making) on Wednesday.
The registration desk will be open from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the
Hotel Grand Shinonome on Monday. From Tuesday through Friday,
the registration will be made at the workshop headquarter at the
conference room in the Building 3 of KEK. Only Japanese currency in
cash (no credit card nor travelers' check) will be accepted.

7. Excursion

An excursion is foreseen on Wednesday 16 July to "Kasama" by bus.
Kasama is located approximately 35km northeast of Tsukuba and is known
in Japan as a city of ceramic art. It is about one hour ride from KEK.
Overthere, you will be able to make a pottery yourself (Fee: 1,200 Yen.
Pay at the spot). Your pottery will be colored and baked by their
craftsmen later. It takes about one month to be finished.
Then, it will be sent to KEK so that you can pick it up at the next
time you visit KEK or we can ship it to you at your own cost.
There will be a Japanese tea service at the Edo-era styled residence
of the famous pottery-maker, Rosanjin.

8. Reception

The workshop reception will be held on Tuesday 15 July in the evening
at the Hotel Grand Shinonome. It will be a buffet style dinner party.

9. Proceedings

The proceedings of the workshop will be published later as a KEK report.
The format and the deadline of submission will be announced later.
