Basic Knowledge of Mito Hotels

• Three hotel types
  
  1. Standard hotels for foreign visitors
     An example is Holiday Inn Mito. The single room costs 10-12k yen (= 100-120 US$). This is a safe solution for most of foreign visitors.
  2. Economy hotels for Japanese business guests
     An example is Hotel Steno. The single room costs 6-7k yen with breakfast. Rooms are small (i.e. 12m² for single). There are very small number of non-smoking rooms. Wireless network in guest rooms is available (because Japanese guests want to work with a PC midnight ?).
  3. Traditional Japanese-inn
     Do you want to experience a traditional Japanese-inn ? A good candidate is Kikuya Hotel. The single room costs 6-7k yen with breakfast. Our suggestion is - try this for the last night (on Dec.10,Fri), if you are full of Curiosity.
  
  
• North side of JR Mito, and South side
  
  • North side is a typical Japanese station-front. Shops, cafeterias, restautrants, etc. are located in north side. In addition, there are some historical sites of the Edo period (17-19C).
  • South side is an under development area. In general, hotels are newer, larger, and better than north side. However, no restautrants: you have to visit north side every night for dinner.
  
  

Reservation Procedure

1. If you do not want to spend time for hotel reservation, select Holiday Inn Mito. Ask your local travel agency for reservation. You are kindly asked to tell us that you do not need our help.
2. If you like a hotel life as in your home country, select Standard hotels.
3. If you need wireless network service (and you do not mind smoking smell), or you want to save money, select Economy hotels.
4. If you are interested in Traditional Japanese-inn, let us know it. We will arrange an overnight stay on Dec.10 (Fri).

For both Standard hotels and Economy hotels, the web-based reservation systems are available, but Japanese only. We will reserve a hotel from the lists below: please let us know your requests.

     6 min. walk from North entrance of JR Mito railway station.
